FULFILLMENT TO START MID TO LATE FEBRUARY

Not much has changed since the last update other than I'm confirming fulfillment to start around February 15th. I sincerely hope that the travel ban still in effect will be lifted by then but even if it isn't I will make sure to activate another Operation Quesadilla to make it back here in the US like I did back in October.

Because the books and cards and other goodies are all printed I don't expect any more delays. I just completed fulfillment for The Few and Cursed #6 and One-Eyed Jack and it all worked perfectly without any hiccups so by the time I make it back to Florida come February I also expect the same for Shadow Nation.

Allow me to apologize yet again for all the delays, 2020 was a strange year and I'm looking forward to turn that page and start anew next year. I wish I could make it back earlier in the year but I have work already lined up in January in Brazil and transit times for the cargo to get to the US from China are 40 days or more anyway, especially around the holidays when it can go all the way up to 60 days.

Hey everyone!

Sorry it's been a little over a month since the last update. Things have been absolutely bonkers on my end as I'm fulfilling The Few and Cursed #6 Kickstarter (over a thousand packages!!) while running a new campaign at the same time.

And allow me to share this new campaign before getting into Shadow Nation news. We've collected all six issues with the complete Crows of Mana'Olana story into one gorgeous single book available both in softcover and collector's edition hardcover formats.

This was something that Fabiano and I have been wanting to do for a while and it's amazing to see so many people embracing it. This campaign has been absolutely mind-blowing with almost 1.000 backers already and over a dozen Stretch Goals unlocked in less than two weeks since launching.

We've unlocked cards, prints, book upgrades, dust-jacket with dual-sided artwork, it's been a true extravaganza. 

For those that don't know yet Red was the character that kickstarted this whole universe and the Crows story was the first Few and Cursed title I've written and published. Much like Alistair Fairweather Red is also a Curse Chaser and in this first adventure we see her go up against the murderous Crows of Mana'Olana.

I totally understand it's a lot to ask for backers to jump on a new Kickstarter before I had the chance to fulfill the current one but believe me this is worth it. SHADOW NATION NEWS - The good first then the bad!

I'm a good news kind of guy so let's get to those first. The books are printed and they look gorgeous, I'm stoked at the photos the printer in China e-mailed to me.

Shadow Nation is a project I'm really proud of and I sincerely can't wait to share it with all of you. The printer got every detail right and even though the photos don't really do it justice you can already tell it turned out great.

Both editions of the books are done, including the dust-jacket, as are the Chromium cards as well, check it out:

I really wish all I had were good news but unfortunately that's not the case. Both the printer in China and myself did everything we could to get the order on a ship leaving on October 29th but we missed it by a couple of days.

For the past couple of weeks we have been trying to get the cargo on another vessel but commercial lines are not operating in the same frequency as they did before the pandemic and the cargo hasn't left China yet.

Supposedly there is a boat leaving tomorrow (they have been going out every couple of weeks) but I had to make the very difficult decision not to board that one. And here's why.

If Shadow Nation boards the ship tomorrow it would arrive somewhere around X-Mas or the New Years at the earliest but most likely it would not arrive until mid-January as transit times have been suffering delays (the last cargo I got, Painting the World Red and One-Eyed Jack, arrived around ten days after the deadline).

With travel bans still in effect I have no idea if I'd be around to receive the cargo or not. I need time to plan how all of this will unfold and that gets us to the bad news that fulfillment for Shadow Nation won't start until late January or early February.

And I couldn't be more sorry for this new delay. I apologize, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this causes.

I know, it sucks, I hate that this fulfillment got pushed back an extra couple of months especially since the books have been printed and I'm currently online with another Kickstarter campaign. The timing couldn't be worse for news like this.

But rest assured that every single reward and package will ship out and I will do whatever it takes to get this done as soon as possible. It's all a matter of planning, booking flights, getting the cargo on a ship, it's all logistics from this point forward.

I appreciate everyone's patience, understanding and support and I'd like to remind you that all digital rewards have been sent. So if you are anxious to actually read the book you can always do it digitally.

Howdy, folks!

Before we get to the good stuff let me give you potentially bittersweet news. The printer in China has started mass production on Shadow Nation but has informed me of two possible delays, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holidays are in full swing right now (Oct 1st to Oct 8th) and ocean freight time has been quite unstable this year.

As of right now we are still working with the same fulfillment dates I've posted before putting us in late November to early December.

However, if by any chance the shipment arrives after December 8th-10th (which today has a 50-50 chance of happening) then our fulfillment dates will change drastically and push us onto early 2021. I hope that doesn't happen and I will do my best to make sure it doesn't but as of right now that possibility is on the table. I will keep you all updated as the factory in China works on the books.

Onwards to the good stuff!

DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION

As promised digital files have been sent via BackerKit directly to your Kickstarter registered e-mails. All files have been sent with download instructions but here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

1- Check your Spam. E-mails will come from BackerKit and they can end up in your spam or junk folder. Please search for any and all e-mails coming from BackerKit, please.

2- BackerKit Surveys must have been filed out. I still have 47 backers that have not filled out their surveys yet and without completed surveys no rewards will be sent - digital or otherwise.

QUICK REMINDER - BackerKit Surveys locking down in 24hrs! No rewards for incomplete surveys, folks!

I will make this brief and quick... BackerKit Surveys will be locked down TOMORROW  morning at 7:59am PST!

If you don't complete your Surveys in time your name WILL NOT be on the Thank You list and you might not get all the items you pledged for - especially those going for the Kickstarter limited edition hardcover.

BackerKit is the only way I'm able to get precise counts for the most limited items, it's as simple as that, so if you pledged for the hardcover but didn't fulfill your Survey in time, yes, there is a risk of me downgrading your package without previous warning or refunds.

REMINDER: BACKERKIT SURVEYS LOCKING DOWN IN 24HRS!!!

Alright, folks, this it it.

We have officially begun the fulfillment process for the Shadow Nation Kickstarter and step #1 and probably the most important is the BackerKit Surveys. I'm thrilled to confirm all BACKERKIT SURVEYS HAVE BEEN SENT AND WILL BE LOCKED DOWN ON SEPTEMBER 21ST!

And if you don't fill them out you won't be able to receive any of the rewards included in your pledge tier - digital files as well.

All of you, every single backer, should have received by now e-mails directly from BackerKit asking you to fill out the Surveys. They are easily accessible from the e-mails sent and pretty straightforward, all you gotta do is follow the steps and instructions. No sign in required.

The Surveys will lock on September 21st so please make sure to get them filled out as early as possible, it helps me with the quantities of items I will order from the printer.

If you haven't received your BackerKit Survey invite please follow these steps:

Keep an eye out on your Spam Folder and/or Junk Mail. E-mails will come either directly from BackerKit or myself (Felipe Cagno) and will say on the subject line Response Needed -- Get your rewards for The Few and Cursed: Shadow Nation.

How to Upgrade or Switch your Pledge Level

On the very first screen backers will have the chance to upgrade or switch pledge levels. There is a little clickable "or switch your pledge level" just underneath the big green Get Started! button as pictured above.

If you would like to go for a higher tier the system will charge you the difference at the end of the process and if you pledged for one of the top tiers already but would like to spend the cash in a different way then the system will use the overpaid difference as extra credit to be used towards Add-ons.

Last chance to get the Kickstarter Exclusive hardcover edition with dust-jacket

Backers will have a LAST CHANCE to either upgrade their softcover graphic novels to the Print on Demand hardcover edition or even add a second book to their pledges. Once the BackerKit Surveys lock down that's it, no more hardcover books will be available outside the few leftovers after fulfillment is 100% complete.

You will also be able to add a number of other graphic novels, cards, collectibles and more to your pledges. I tallied up every The Few and Cursed product I had stored and made them available for purchase at discounted prices. That includes the original series, the slipcase with original design, the spin-off anthology Chronicles of The Few and Cursed, all our collectible cards, the coins, bookmarks and more.

Also available are all my other original comic books and graphic novels.

PLEASE NOTE: Credit cards are not charged immediately. They are only charged after the surveys lock on September 21st.

Shipping Problems, Missing Rewards or any other issues

Glitches might happen. I'm prone to mistakes so if you notice anything out of place do not hesitate to either leave a comment on this update, shoot me a message or e-mail me at [email protected]

We did a smoke test during the weekend and it looked like it all went alright. There was one specific glitch where if you had added the Ibraim Roberson card set during the Kickstarter campaign and used the extra credit towards it in the Add-Ons section the system would automatically charge about a $1 for extra shipping. If that happens to you please reach out so I can discount it.

If you have any problems filling out the surveys as well or adding items to your pledge I'm always here to help make this experience as smooth as possible.

And because credit cards aren't charged right away you can just add items at your convenience, finalize the order and if there's anything wrong with pricing or shipping, anything out of place really, we can correct it before any charges go through.
